I have been babysitting on and off since 7th grade. I have only worked for about 3 families with girls from the ages 3 to 8. In addition, I have worked as a math tutor at Mathnasium for four years-- working with kids from kindergarten all the way to junior year of high school. I also volunteered at an after-school program for students in 5th and 6th grade for one year.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I make sure to pay attention to children's interest and try to build off of what makes them excited. Sometimes we color, read, play make belief scenarios, hangout at parks and playgrounds, and more!
My experience with special needs children...
I babysat for a very sweet 8-year-old boy with brain cancer that affected his mental and physical abilities. Although this experience was new to me, it taught me patience, adaptability, and how to better support a child with special needs. I learned a lot and grew as a babysitter because of it.
