The most important part of caring for children is the investment you make in them. The way we treat children and talk to them becomes the way they think of and talk to themselves. Even a babysitter has a part in that, and it's important to foster their thoughts, emotions, and ideas well and treat them as important, because they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think my favorite moment would be a time that I took my two younger cousins, around ages 4 and 8 at the time, to Target for fun. In the checkout line, I turned beside me, and my 4 year old cousin was eating candy she pulled off the shelf! To her, if it was on her level, it was up for grabs. It was hilarious, but I bought the candy and explained that we have to buy the candy at the store. It's a funny story to look back on.
