More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked in multiple fields with children such as working as a nanny, as a teacher for children with disabilities, and as a social worker for DCF.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing outside during the nice weather months doing all different activities such as swimming, playing on the playground, chalk, walking, outdoor sports, etc.
During the colder months I will play outside however I prefer to be indoors where it is warm. I will enjoy activities such as coloring, board games, reading, watching movies, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building relationships/bonds with the children and parents.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with special needs children for about 14 years. I have a family member who is on the autism spectrum and I have been helping care for him his whole life. He is the reason I began working with special needs children which lead me to working at a camp (The Bridge Center) which is a camp for children with special needs. I loved my job and after graduating college, I landed a job in a school setting again working with children with special needs. This job was challenging every day and kept me on my toes but I loved it. I decided to take my career elsewhere which was a difficult decision and started my career at DCF. The children I began working with had been through so much trauma in their lives and challenges they had to face yet they still were some of the greatest children I got to work with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

After work one day, it was time for me to start heading home. The parent told her child to give me a hug goodbye. The child then turned to her mother and hugged her goodbye and then tried to come home with me. It makes me feel good that my jobs have been more than a paycheck and it has given me the opportunity to build relationships with families.
