Hi parents, I'm Stephanie!
I am inspired in this life to nurture compassion and curiosity in the young of our society. When caring for children, I love to read together, craft exciting creations, and go on fun outdoor adventures--where I can introduce them to the plants and trees of their ecosystem and we can wonder how to think like the birds! I love exploring the ways to make "the boring stuff" fun with kids. How a song can completely shift/prevent a reluctant attitude and how a simple game can make clean-up still part of the play. In times when a child is upset or endangering themselves or another, my responses are influenced by the practices of positive discipline and approaching these situations with a calm, understanding and conscious presence.
In my personal life, I am studying herbalism and other modalities of holistic healing. I am passionate about individual and community empowerment surrounding health and the body.

"In 2019 I had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie and got to observe her work with my two year old daughter. I was impressed with her ability to keep my daughter motivated and focused on her outdoor adventures and projects. She had the perfect balance of exploration, fun, and safety boundaries. After observing her style of care, I felt completely comfortable and confident in her ability. She always geared my child to healthy snack and meal options. She even facilitated participation with meal preparation. I can't say how much I appreciated my daughter coming home not only happy after each 'play date' but also eager to help out around the house because Stephanie's unique and playful attitude towards chores. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as an after-school art specialist at an elementary school for a school year in New York State. Here I created and instructed engaging, age-appropriate art projects for children ages 4-11, and encouraged the student's creative expression and exploration.
As a teenager I did volunteer reading at a local elementary school, working with first grade students to expand their vocabularies and practice their reading skills. As a teenager I also volunteered at a summer camp for several years, working with toddlers and elementary aged children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read with kids and be a source of encouragement in their general learning processes. I love to make learning games to practice developing skills and to understand new concepts. I am always in awe of children's endless creativity and it's a joy to create a space through different projects for them to explore this part of themselves. I love to go on walks/hikes, introduce children to the local trees, plants, and wildlife, and take part in playing along in the magnificent imaginary worlds of kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny I believe I am an extension of the role of the parents. With this, every child I care for I treat as if they are my own. It is of most importance to maintain the safety of the child while nurturing their playful, curious, learning, and creative minds.
