More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nanny for a 3 month old, 2 year old, foster parent for a 4 year old, 3 year old, 4 newborns, a 6 year old. I have worked with a special needs child who was also wheelchair bound and he was 10 years old. I am familiar with children who have been exposed to drug addicted parents and behavior issues associated with autism, adhd, learning disabilities.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Going for a walk, playing, teaching new things to, reading, swimming, and singing. I can come up with a lot of activities to do.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny for me is keeping the children safe and healthy. I take this very seriously when it comes to safety and that's another reason why im strict when it comes to discipline, teaching and helping the children understand safety and understand why we do things the way we do them. So basically keeping the children alive, but i also I love to create a bond with the kids and get to know them. I always look forward to hanging out with the kids. Watching them grow and become the best they can be is fulfilling because I get to encourage and praise them for their accomplishments.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with mentally and physically handicap children. Im comfortable with using a transfer board, and working with wheelchairs. I also have experience with kids who are mentally handicap and have a hard time talking and communicating which can be frustrating for the child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite memory being a nanny was when I taught the 4 year old little girl how to peel an orange, seeing the look on her face when she did it herself was amazing for me to be a part of. She had the biggest smile and started laughing saying I did it myself I did it myself.
Same little girl, second favorite memory. We were in the golf cart on the grass and I challenged her to run next to me and jump in while it was moving. She was so excited when she overcame her fear. This quickly became one of her favorite things to do and it was fun for me too. Her and I built a very strong bond, we always looked forward to seeing each other and I still do stop by to see her. Last time i seen her, I was leaving and she jumped into my arms and wrapped her whole body around me and gave me a nice squeeze. I love that little girl so much.
