My name is Susan and I love children, and am very patient with kids. I love playing, crafting, and doing projects that are age appropriate. I am very creative and also am a very good cook. Currently, I’ve been babysitting my 8 year old twin niece and nephew on and off for a couple years while my sister works. I also help out with my neighbors young children when their mom works a few days a week. They are 2 and 7. I also have a 2 year old grandson that I spend as much time with that I can.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I help out with my 2 year old grandson and my twin 8 year old niece and nephew, and also my neighbors daughter who’s 7 and has learning disabilities. They always love when I come over because I take the time to do fun creative things with them that parents don’t always have the time for in their busy schedules and make sure I give one on one attention equally. I’m always trying to think of new creative and educational ways to interact with them and make sure it’s always age appropriate.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing, going on walks and to the park, doing crafts & educational experiments (age appropriate), teaching kids how to cook and bake.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I get to know each child as an individual and treat them accordingly. All kids are different so I think it’s important to know their likes and dislikes and what they enjoy to do in spare time. I believe no matter if you are playing or teaching them something that it can be done in a fun way that doesn’t make them feel like it’s work and to make sure to tailor both playtime and learning to their individual learning styles for the best success.

My experience with special needs children...

My neighbors daughter has speech and learning disabilities. She spends a lot of time with me and I help work with her one on one teaching and helping her learn things she struggles with. She enjoys time with me because I am very patient and give her one on one attention and try to incorporate learning into events, even the really fun stuff.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments this past summer was when I incorporated learning with crafting and experiments. The kids loved it and didn’t even realize how much they learned about math and science as we did the fun stuff. We made homemade slime, sidewalk paints, lava lamps, and baked homemade cookies. I also brought out all kinds of crafts to do with them and set-up littles tables in the backyard with different work stations they could rotate through….I honestly had just as much fun as they did.
