A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Sydney! I am a kind, fun and loving 20 year old. I love going on adventures and exploring, doing new things and meeting new people. I love spending my days tinkering and creating new recipes, baking and cooking for the people I love. I also love teaching and caring for children. Helping them grow to be the best little humans they can be. I grew up fulfilling this love, this passion, by babysitting for family members and neighbors any chance I got. It grew into taking childcare courses in highschool, working at a daycare center for a year after I graduated highschool, and now I am currently a nanny! I am certified in safe sleep/sleep training, SIDS, adult, child and infant CPR/AED, child abuse and neglect, abusive head trauma, shaken baby syndrome, and I have all my lifeguard training, just never got around to getting certified due to covid. As for courses I have over 50 hours is training for “introduction to the child care profession” and “baby basics.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started off my experience in childcare with a year at a local daycare. I primarily worked with the ages of 6 weeks to 3 years but did occasionally work with school agers. Most recently I was a nanny for a little girl who just started preschool. I worked with her from age 12 months - 2.5 years. I’ve also been a babysitter for many years, some children being as young as 4 months but I tend to work between the ages of 1 year-3 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love experimenting with hobbies to see if there are any in particular the child clings to and enjoys. The may include, but is not limited to, baking/cooking, arts and crafts, hiking and dancing. Personally I love baking and love to include the children. I also to utilizing the accessible town we live in by adventuring to find new play places and fun daytime activities. This can mean a library story time, going to a petting zoo, or finding a new spot for lunch.

The most important part about being a nanny...

understanding that you’re an extension to the parenting team. You are with said child everyday and know them like the back of your hand, you make an impression on them as well. It’s important to be on the same page as the parents in every stage so everyone is in understanding of what is best for the household.

My experience with special needs children...

So far I have not had any previous experience with special needs children but I am always open to learn and adapt.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One moment I’ll never forget is watching my previous nanny baby walk for the first time. I love watching them grow and obtain new skills - seeing them become the person they are destined to be and assisting them to make each transition of life as smooth as possible for them.
