Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been babysitting since I was about 14. Before that I was a "Mother's helper," which meant the parents were home while I cared for the kids. I have worked in the nursery at church for years, volunteered at a boys and girls club at an elementary school for months, as well as worked in a Speech and Language therapies office to get shadowing hours. I have spent a lot of time studying and learning how cultivate children's development.
My experience with special needs children...
In the time that I worked at a Speech and Language therapy office, I worked with many kids with special needs. Majority of the children were 5 and under, but we had some kids come in that were in middle school and high school. I learned specifically how to further their speech skills, but I also grew in behavioral management and how to keep children with special needs safe.
