A little bit about me

My name is Sydney Harper, I am an 18 year old senior at Pennfield High School, who is currently finishing my final class online so I have more time to work and save money for college. I have been a babysitter for the past 4 years and absolutely love spending time and being a great role model for young kids. Growing up being the oldest of the family, I find joy and happiness caring and nurturing for younger ones. My mother is also an elementary teacher so I usually find time to assist her in her classroom. Typically I work with the children who struggle and have a difficult time in school, I appreciate my time teaching and guiding them in order for them to succeed and feel accomplished within themselves. After high school, I will have endless time in the summer to watch your kids and I also plan on attending KCC in the fall to start nursing so I will be able to work for you and the family for years to come. My availability to work will be at your convenience, I hope to start right away!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Whenever I occasionally help assist my mom in her 4th grade classroom in the Lakeview School District. Also, over the summer of 2021, my varsity volleyball team ran a camp for young girls grades 2nd-7th, and we all participated in coaching and teaching each and everyone one of them for a week.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am very much a fan of sports, I grew up always being involved in them, and played both basketball and volleyball all throughout high school. So anything that consists of going outside, allowing the kids to be active and have fun with them is my favorite thing to do. But, I also do enjoy indoor activities as well, such as, playing card games or any sort of game, coloring/drawing, reading to the kids, helping them with homework, and watching shows and movies with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important part about being a nanny and just babysitting in general is forming strong bonds with the children, and being a great role model in their lives that’ll impact them and shape them to grow into the best version of themselves throughout the long life that they have ahead of them. I personally cannot wait to have a family of my own one day, and be a mother, I think it is the most rewarding thing in the world. So every kid that I have in my care, I will look after them as one of my own and try my best to do whatever it is that’ll make them happy!

My experience with special needs children...

I am not too familiar with babysitting or watching children with special needs. But since I do help with my mother in her 4th grade classroom, I usually am working with the kids with special needs or learning disabilities with their school work and have formed great bonds with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have babysat for the same family with three kids for four years so there is so many moments that I can name off but one of my favorite is the following: the two twin girls are very into gymnastics and dance and I used to be a gymnast for 11 years so they would always want me to watch all the new moves they have learned and teach them new ones as well. So one of them Carly, really wanted to learn a back handspring, and she was working at it for months with me spotting her on the trampoline. So when she finally did it on the trampoline by herself I was right there and was so proud of her. Now they still text me all the videos of their new tricks and moves they have learned or are working on. Both really look up to me and always try to be little mini-mes that makes me feel very special. Watching these three grow up the past four years and seeing how much they have grown from then to now is crazy. It is so surreal and I am so proud of all of them for the great people they have become.
