A little bit about me

I am an empty nester with 2 grown daughters. I have worked since January 2026 as a paraprofessional for elementary special education K-5 and love it. I feel so much joy making a difference in their lives. I spent 18 years of my life as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher and worked 9 years at the hospital. I love being outdoors and nature, as well as crafting and adventures. I am very good handling emergencies and being able to remain calm and think clearly. I would be interested in caring for children from infant thru age 10. I want to show children there is so much more to see, experience and enjoy without always being on electronics. Reading is important as well as being in nature.
For the past 3 summers I have worked at a very busy seasonal restaurant, but have realized in my new adventure as a paraprofessional, that I feel so much joy watching the excitement of kids learning or going on adventures (nature scavenger hunts, fun dress up days, exploring), that this is my calling.

I have volunteered in the church nursery for infants-toddlers. I was a patient safety attendant on the pediatrics unit at Lakeland St. Joseph, MI for 2 years and most recently I am a paraprofessional for elementary K-5 special education students since January of this year. Our school year ends June 5th.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor scavenger hunts, hikes, parks, splash pads, picnics, exploring the beach, the zoo, outdoor games, building forts. Inside games, reading, coloring, educational worksheets, dance parties, puzzles, baking, crafts, pretty much anything except video games and electronics.

As a paraprofessional, my favorite moment was doing a scavenger hunt with a 6yo autistic child and watching him engage and focus, along with him experiencing so much joy as we found items on our list. I also love to hear his giggle as we play hide and seek in the sensory room.
