Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Infants: need exercise and stimulation to develop and advance. Movements of arms and legs, along with baby toy activities that encourage eye coordination and other developmental games are all good things for an infant.
Toddlers: children this age advance their language skills, cognitive abilities, and physical development. Reading books, flashcards, and singing songs help language. Age appropriate toys and activities such as coloring, kinetic sand, and puzzles help with learning, thinking, and provlem solving. And games like ball play, chase, and exercises help physical development.
These are all activities I enjoy sharing with children, amongst many many others.

The most important part about being a nanny...
A nanny should love children, should understand how children think, should look after the children as one would look after their own, and should have knowledge of age appropriate child development.
There needs to be an immense patience and compromise with children. One will have to improvise, adapt, and be adept in communication with children.
Professionally one should be prepared, educated, and equipped for such a role.
And above all these, the children should feel safe, secure and enjoy being in your company.

My experience with special needs children...
My only experience with special needs are limited. I have an autistic step-daughter I've had experience with, and challenged children in day care. I would be willing to learn if there were any special needs for being with your children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My most beloved "moment" is more like a complete experience. We had a 3yr old boy in daycare that was a complete hellion. Beyond rambunctious and had no sense of following instruction. And he would throw the largest temper tantrums. I took this room for about a month and several times after because this little boy and I developed a relationship, I wasn't "just his teacher", I was a friend. Where he wouldn't sleep for anyone else, he'd lay down for me and I'd rub his back until he slipped off. And he'd eat with me, while I sat in a chair next to him. And his fits would be tapered by hugs and reassured talk. His parents even commented as to how he'd calmed down at home. To this day, I miss that child, everyday. And I hope he's doing great.

Babysitter Available in Gulf Shores, AL: Marilyn W.
Hello! I'm a seasoned, certified ALSDE Visual Arts teacher (grades pre-k - 12) with additional instructional experience in Spanish Enrichment, Music Appreciation, and ESL.
My husband and I are both Alabama natives and have lived in Baldwin County for the past 5 years having moved from central Alabama in order for me to accept a teaching position in Daphne.
I love working with children and especially fostering their naturally creative nature and imagination! I believe hands on learning and experiences through play are the best classrooms for young children!
Perhaps most importantly, I have raised three wonderful and successful children of my own who are now ages 28, 26, and 21! (Two boys and a girl)
In conclusion, I'd like to add that becoming a nanny (temporarily, part-time, or full-time) is something I'm interested in exploring as a fulfilling opportunity to either supplement or replace my role as a professional educator while assisting a family in our area.
