I regularly helped with childcare at a daycare run by my aunt when I was younger, then spent years babysitting for multiple families. Many of those families were multi-child households, some had infants and toddlers, and several had special needs children!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to read to and with children and get them to engage with enriching toys and media. I also love to play games such as tag or frisbee outside, weather and space permitting!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe you aren't just taking on a babysitting role, but a secondary parental role as a nanny, and promising to give the children your effort and care as you would your own children! If you are spending a decent amount of time with a child then you should be dedicating yourself to enriching their lives and teaching them, because especially with young children, every waking moment is a learning moment, and they all count.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for several children on the autistic spectrum, ranging from needing little help to needing significant help, either with physical tasks or with communication in the case of a child who is any degree of nonverbal.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There was once a family I cared for where I would walk through the door and all the children would yell my name and start running to me trying to be the first to get picked up, and it made me so happy seeing how excited they all got the second they saw that I'd gotten there, and how they asked if I could stay when their parents came back home!
