In High School I was a babysitter for a family with a two young kids, and also volunteered and worked with special needs kids. During college I babysat for a family with a young boy during the summers. I also babysat for cousin last year for around 8 months. She has two young boys one is 6 months and the other two. At the time it was just the one boy and he was around one year old. That consisted of giving him his snacks and sometimes making dinner. Also changing diapers and putting him down for naps.

The most important thing about being a nanny is making sure the kids feel special and heard every single day. It’s about building a bond made of trust, love, and kindness. It means being there when parents can’t be, and making sure the kids are happy, healthy, and cared for. It’s about keeping a good routine, but also making time for fun, laughter, and lots of silly moments. A nanny’s job is to make every day feel safe, joyful, and full of love.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with special needs children all through middle school and high school. In middle school I would teach the children how to swim. In high school I volunteered for a night to shine, after school events, and also was in a class that specifically worked with the special needs kids in our school.
