A little bit about me

I'm Tati, I'm 30, and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I've been staying home with my now 10-year-old son for basically his whole life, and we're sending him to school in the Fall so I'm looking for employment.

I feel the most comfortable and confident caring for young children -- my comfort zone being specifically infants and toddlers -- and so I'd like to stick to that area as I look for official employment for the first time in 10 years.

I've been called a baby whisperer a lot, haha. I love babies so much and don't mind or get stressed over crying or diaper blow-outs or anything. You can rest assured that if you've got a fussy baby, they're not going to stress me out and I keep very cool and calm in situations where babies are really aggravated and are letting it be known. And I'm a very interactive caregiver and I don't stick kids in front of screens and call it a day -- books and blocks are more my thing.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I grew up with a younger sister who I helped care for, I was a regular babysitter during my adolescent and teenage years, and I had my son at 19 and have been staying at home with him almost full-time ever since then.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe it's really important for kids to be connected to nature and to get fresh air as often as possible, so I love taking kids outside to do whatever they feel like doing -- swings, walks, swimming, etc. I love to read with kids, so that's something I'll often do if they're interested. I like to play with building blocks, train sets, kitchen sets, etc. Anything that doesn't involve staring at screens for extended periods of time is what I like doing with the kids I care for.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When you're caring for someone else's child, they're trusting you to not just watch their child while they're away, but to care for that child as if they're your own. The most important part about being a nanny, to me, is to show the parents that they made a good decision by trusting you with a massive responsibility -- and to be a trusted figure in the child's life. To me, a nanny is another person that's been tasked with helping a child grow and develop and thrive and that's pretty important.

My experience with special needs children...

The most important part about being a nanny...

I'm not sure that I have one that I can point to -- but an example of my favorite moments when I'm caring for a child are when I make them laugh. That sounds...really corny. I almost don't want to say it because it sounds so corny, haha. But it's true. Kids are typically really sensitive to energy and so it's an awesome feeling when you're able to make a child feel comfortable around you and trust you -- and a great indicator of that having happened is when you're able to make them smile and laugh. A kid laughing is one of the best, funniest sounds ever so those are always my favorite moments when I'm caring for a child.
