A little bit about me

From a young age, I knew I was meant to work with children of all abilities. Raised in a home full of kindness and acceptance, I developed a deep passion for helping others early on. I began childcare at 15, and for the past two years, I’ve proudly worked in the special needs community.

My experience spans both neurotypical and neurodivergent care, giving me a unique and inclusive approach. I focus on creating a safe, loving, and joyful space where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

I’ve maintained lasting relationships with many families over the past 11 years, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to help children grow with confidence and care.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve had a wide range of childcare experience throughout my life. Growing up in a full house as one of the older siblings, I naturally took on the role of caring for the younger ones. I officially began nannying at age 15 for a bright, sweet young girl I still stay in close contact with today. Since then, I’ve continued to nanny for various families, including family friends and referrals — from age 15 to the present.

Over two years ago, I had the incredible opportunity to work at a special needs school that uses the S2C (Spelling to Communicate) method. This experience deepened my understanding of how to support children with diverse needs, both neurodivergent and neurotypical. It taught me how essential patience, communication, and kindness are when caring for and guiding young minds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love tapping into the creativity that lives inside every child! I'm always looking for fun, hands-on ways to connect and engage — whether it’s painting, pottery, nature walks, trampoline parks, or adventure parks. I especially enjoy watching kids light up when they realize they’re doing something independently for the first time.

Even during downtime at home, I love creating crafts, games, or simple projects that spark imagination and curiosity. As a special needs teacher, I’ve spent a lot of time designing inclusive activities that are fun and meaningful for all ages and abilities. Whether it’s building with blocks in a pattern or doing a scavenger hunt around the house, I believe it’s my job to keep their minds active and growing — all while having fun!

My experience with special needs children...

I have over two years of experience working in the special needs community at a private school in the Tampa Bay area. In that time, I’ve learned so much — from adapting and supporting emotional regulation to promoting independence and always presuming competence.

What I’m most proud of is the relationships I build. I strive to create a space where each child feels safe, understood, and unconditionally loved for exactly who they are. Supporting and celebrating the strengths of neurodivergent individuals is not just part of my work — it’s something I deeply value.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It’s so hard to pick just one! I’ve had so many special moments — from big breakfast mornings and living room dance parties to unexpected cuddles and the sweet, funny things kids say when you least expect it. Every day brings something new and memorable, and that’s what I love most about being a nanny.

Holly K. - Seeking Work in St. Petersburg

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in St. Petersburg, FL: Holly K.

My career in child care actually started growing up in a house of two educators. Both of my parents are teachers. My dad was also a coach, I became the designated caregiver for all the families' children at every sporting event. That is truly where my love for helping others began. My mom specializes in special needs education. Through her, I was fortunate to be introduced to families who needed extra, specialized support. Caring for those children became my very first job and gave me foundational skills in patience, adaptability, and inclusive care. Since then, I’ve worked as a flight attendant, which really elevated my professional childcare skills. In that role, I underwent rigorous training to earn my CPR and First Aid certifications, perfected safe meal preparation, and mastered the art of managing high-stress situations calmly. Making sure your children are completely safe, engaged, and supported would be my number one priority.
