Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am the oldest of 3, and grew up as a "live in sitter", haha! That's how the journey began. I then babysat all of my younger cousins and friends of the family's children. While in college, it was a great way to make a little extra money and really the only long term work experience I'd had at the time.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love arts and crafts, baking, science projects and engineering kits, soccer, and gardening. Because I have my own little one, I am constantly researching fun projects and activities to keep her entertained!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Relieving parents and giving them the peace of mind that their child/children are being well taken care of. I was so nervous when my daughter was a baby to leave her with anyone I didn’t know because I didn’t know if they were going to care for her the way I would. I have very high standards of care and I guarantee that any family would be pleased with my services!
My experience with special needs children...
One of my first jobs in life was at a wonderful place in Los Angeles called the Joan and Harry A. Mier Center. Here, I was a caregiver for special needs children and teens. I continued on babysitting and care taking from the age of 3 months old to hospice care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Was discovering that the oldest son loved building lego worlds. So I bought him a little kit that we built together. He was so happy because he liked to communicate through his love of legos and the storylines he'd created. This ended up being a great way to bond and for him to express himself.
