More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered for crisis nurseries, am first aid/cpr certified, on the Dean's list at my college, and take watching your children very seriously. I am currently pursuing a career in Radiology. I have worked with special needs children, twins, infants, teens and preteens, as well as newborns and toddlers. I love being outdoors, am not a huge fan of "screen time" (you do not pay me to have a screen interact with your children!), anything crafty as well as activities that are adventurous! I am looking for a family to be a part of, in a house that is respectful of others and believes in structure, positive redirection, rules, and loving reinforcement. All things should ultimately be learned from and I love seeing children learn daily tasks (such as cleaning up, folding laundry, vacuuming, etc!) It can be fun!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I adore the outdoors and am not a huge fan of screen time as I previously mentioned. I enjoy organizing outdoor activities and keeping busy unless life calls for otherwise! I understand we all need to relax or unwind every now and again.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being the extension of the parents and being able to continue their parenting while they are gone everyday. Watching them learn from what I teach... and then repeat!!!! Being given the trust and respect of parents, to care for their most prized and loved parts of their lives. That is a huge blessing and privilige and I believe that first and foremost should always be in your mind as you make all decisions for their children during the day!

My experience with special needs children...

ADHD/ADD, children with severe allergies, autistic children, and babies born in the very unfortunate place of addiction.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Trying to convince a toddler that shoes are a great idea in a Minnesota winter. After going through the whole routine of options, you choose, match nannies shoes, let's tie them together, anything that would work, we ultimately failed and fell into the loving sound of a tantrum. I decided that I tend to steer clear of reasoning with an upset small one. This was a conclusion this little defiant mind was going to have to come to on her own. So, I said , "that is just fine love let's go outside without our shoes today!" You let me know how your little feet feel about that. I gave her my best supportive, let's do it smile! As we stepped outside in the frigid cold, she stopped, turned to me, and said, "nanny my feet are cold, can I put on socks and pink boots!" Wow! I told her how smart she is and I was so happy she picked those boots because they are my favorite! This only took about 1 minute and saved me a migraine and hours of defiance and meltdown! One of my favorite stories for sure!
