I believe the most important part of being a nanny is meeting each child where they are. Every child has different strengths, needs, and ways of experiencing the world, and those differences should never make a family feel like their child is “more difficult” or deserving of less. I want every child in my care to feel safe, included, understood, and celebrated for exactly who they are.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience supporting children with a variety of developmental, behavioral, and medical needs through special education, ABA/RBT services, and Child Life. I’m comfortable supporting nonverbal children, visual impairments, feeding tubes, and monitoring seizure activity. I believe in meeting each child where they are and adapting care to their individual needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was when a little girl I cared for, who was nonverbal at the time, said my name for the very first time. “Tina” was only her fourth word ever! It was such a small moment that meant so much, and it’s something I’ll always remember. 💛

I like to follow a schedule (as loose or tight as you'd like) to keep the day filled with activities and getting up to move. I do follow the child's cues though as sometimes they just need time to relax and chill.
