I love doing crafts, going to the park, baking together, show them my childhood shows if it is TV time (and if it is allowed), take them grocery shopping and teaching them life skills, swimming, playing dress up, I can truly go on forever.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Connecting with the kids and the parents, and truly just having trust and plenty of communication. I totally understand that your child means absolutely everything to you, and I will treat them as that. I also understand that you want to keep them safe, and I would love nothing more but to be an extension of that.
My experience with special needs children...
In school I was a part of a special needs organization. One of my childhood best friends has down syndrome, and I hang out with him quite often so I am so accustomed to it. My baby cousin also has down syndrome, and I have babysat him quite a few times as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
He excitedly spent all morning making a craft for his mom, and when she came home she was so happy. I ended up taking him for ice cream after that!
