More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Hi, I’m a 41 year old female Portland native. I’m married I have my degree in massage and healing arts. My husband and I have a 17-year-old daughter. I currently live in SW Portland. I have over 20 years experience working with children ranging from newborn to 12 years of age. I’m a very active person. I especially enjoy being outside, hiking gardening, cooking and reading, art and museums. I’m very passionate about the outdoors and love creating space for the little ones that I watch to explore and go on new adventures. I am CPR trained as well as first aid and a certified preschool teachers assistant. I’ve nannied for many families throughout the years and have plenty of references to provide. I like to think I’m a creative thinker, great problem, solver multitasker and able to teach while having fun. The reason I enjoy working with children so much is that I believe it brings me as much joy as it does them. I feel it to be a very gratifying job.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’m a very active person. I absolutely love being outside. I have a degree as a preschool teacher so any kind of exploring and learning experiences are right up my alley. I’m a very creative thinker and love any kinds of arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, trips to the zoo, parks or libraries and pools. I love learning about the kiddos. I’m watching and what they’re interested in and incorporating my own spin on things. I absolutely love reading, but always up for any kind of adventure. I think it’s important to think outside of the box, while really listening and get to know the child. It’s important that they feel heard this also gives you the opportunity’s to suggest activities they may be interested in that they haven’t perhaps tried.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny requires more than just fulfilling duties; it demands a genuine passion for working with children. A successful nanny ensures the child feels safe, heard, and respected, fostering an environment conducive to growth and exploration. Wholehearted commitment is so important for achieving success in this position. I personally find that children bring me immense joy, and this passion is what makes my job so rewarding.
My experience with special needs children...
While being a preschool teacher I have worked with children that are all over the spectrum. I also have nannied for and then occasional babysit children with ADHD ADD, neurodivergent, autism, and a plethora of other spectrum related needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most impactful moments for me are when parents express that their child developed a newfound appreciation for a specific activity after my involvement. , seeing a child's attitude towards school transform positively after being in my class is fulfilling. The feeling is overwhelming endearing when children are having so much fun don't want me to depart when it's time for me to leave.

Hello! My name is Karly and I am looking for a job as a nanny for the summer, could be longer if needed. I come from a big family and am an aunt to 11 nieces and nephews. My experience comes from my time helping nanny multiple of my nephews. Between 2019 and 2020 and Nani full-time for my nephew. I was also a nanny between 2017 and 2019, where I was a nanny for a toddler under two years old and a 10 year-old. In that role, I helped tidy the house, and take care of the children, and always made sure to take care for the children to my best ability. I’m looking to getting back into becoming a nanny because I coming off a hard job and would like a job that brings me joy.
