My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with special needs children through my babysitting work, preschool teaching, and my studies in Elementary Education. I have taken multiple university-levels focused on inclusive classrooms, child development, and working with children who have a range of developmental, behavioral, and learning differences. During my internships at elementary schools, I supported students with IEPs and learned strategies for providing individualized attention, promoting positive behavior, and fostering a supportive learning environment. I continue to apply these skills in my current social work studies with a focus on school-based support and advocacy for students.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was with a four-year-old I used to care for. I was responsible for waking her and her brother, getting them ready for their day, and taking them to their daycare. She was definitely not a morning person and getting her up was a daily challenge- until I discovered how much she enjoyed her Mickey Mouse Halloween cartoon. I started playing the theme song quietly when I entered the room, and it became our special routine. She’d slowly wake up, smile, and get excited to start her day. Eventually, she didn’t even need the music and she was just excited to see me. It was such a sweet connection!
