A little bit about me

I was a nanny in New York years ago. I am a grandma now and love it, and decided I would like to care for children more. I had my own massage business, worked customer service for the airlines and volunteer and worked with disabled individuals throughout my life and care for my elderly mother. I served in the military. I have held first aide and CPR certifications for years but would need to get it updated again soon. I enjoy the outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, swimming, skiing and kayaking. I like to be active and eat healthy.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a special needs teacher assistant in Alaska and in Washington. I also have provided respite care to families with special needs. My sister was physically and mentally handicapped and I helped take care of her at times. I was a live in nanny for a year in New York, and now caring for the grand kids when I can.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading books, playing games, crafting and helping with homework or projects. Outside I love just about everything; Hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, skiing, all the ball sports, being active is great.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety and compassion. Being aware and also listening and not being to overpowerful but letting them learn and be aware as well.

My experience with special needs children...

My sister was physically and mentally tally handicapped from age 3-44. She was in a facility but came home every month and so helped take care of her often. I also worked in the schools district in Alaska and Washington as a Special education teacher aide. I have volunteered as well as served on the Board for TROT (Therapeutic Riding of Tri-Cities) and volunteered numerous hours with Rascal Rodeo non-profit that served the disability
community. I have lots of experience with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When the one and half year old put my shoes and hat on and trotted through the house acting like me. Monkey see, monkey do. She was spot on and it was pretty darn cute. The family thought it was pretty darn sweet.
