A little bit about me

I am a 54yr. old young, very active grandmotherly type individual. I am looking for a long term placement with a family that is in need of my abilities. Are Some of those are pre-school and elementary early age learning, medical field training, children that need lots of hugs and encouragement, and need to be kept active at the many parks in Fort Wayne and New Haven, IN. I like to teach children art appreciation, the importance of reading, and self discipline. ie, Yes Ma’am No Ma’am, please, Thank you, etc. I have three grown children of my own ages, almost 22, 24 and 33 yr. old. I kayak a lot, I fish, bow fish, hike and boat. I AM very active. I play the drums and the guitar, love art and gardening. I left the corporate world 5 and a half years ago to semi retire. I was a claims agent for AFLAC Ins. I am also a licensed Nazarene minister, hence the need for part-time employment. I will also come to your house for date nights if necessary once in awhile.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a certified pre-k teacher at Kiddie Prep school. I was once certified in CPR, and Universal Precautions training. I now am certified for sexual assault awareness training through our church and have had the privileged of helping to raise several children not limited to my own. I have nannied over the years in my spare time. I have also taught children in my church in Sunday school settings, and coached Upwards Soccer.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing at the park, reading, fort building:), kite flying, picnicking, swimming, fishing, walking, finger play, teaching months and days of the year through song, anything that has to do with preparation for elementary school and new experiences outdoors.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Teaching children the skills necessary for them to be able to navigate their elementary school years, having fun learning new things and engaging them to the point that their own little lightbulbs shine.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When the child I nannied lost her first tooth and she had been so scared before and she actually gained some courage that day. Blessed my heart to see her the 5 yr old beam at her own capabilities. That day was my best out of the ordinary day with her!
