A little bit about me

(Condensed version due to 1000 word limit)…

Hello, I’m Vanessa! Proud Mom of two! My daughter, 13 yrs. and my son, 12. Both attend Mission Hill Middle school. A few months ago, the rent went up and we were forced to move back to San Jose. I continue to commute my children to and from San Jose to Santa Cruz everyday for school and because I am unemployed at the moment and gas prices are ridiculous, I spend my time in the area while waiting for my kids to finish school so that I am not having to make multiple trips back and forth. My availability is 9am-2pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9am-12pm / 12:30pm on Wednesdays. It’s been so difficult to find a position that works around my Children’s school schedule. I am a genuine, honest, loyal, loving and kind person and as I am all of these things to my own children, I would not be any less to yours! I do appreciate your time and consideration and hope to speak with you soon.

Kind Regards,
Vanessa (Ness) Carson

I have two children of my own. Ages 12 & 13 years old.

Other references include volunteering everyday as a class parent and aid for both of my children’s kindergarten classes for two years.

I also created and organized a moms and toddlers play group through meet-up.com before they were able to attend Preschool.

I’ve looked after my friend’s children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love making busy bags for younger aged children.

Singing (even though I’m terrible at it)

Acting out characters from storybooks, dress-up, make-up, etc. Include children in the story by asking questions about the story, for example, if the story was about superhero’s, a question I could ask would be… “If you had one superpower what would you choose? and why?”, Etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a Mom is the greatest gift of all. Some people believe that we are born with only one gift or purpose in life, though I believe being a Mom is only just the beginning. One of my life’s purpose is being a Mom, though for my kids, it’s me being the best Mom I know how to be at this moment. Learning from experience and growing each day together and individually helps to steer us towards finding our true self and other life purposes as well. My children give me strength! They challenge me in ways I never would think to challenge myself. They play the most important role in my quest for knowledge so that the things I learn I can share with them and hopefully they share with their own children when it comes that time, I learn a lot through my kids and everyday I’m always discovering something new about myself. My kids never cease to tell me what’s on their mind. We have the best honest and open relationship. Trust is key! …. And…. I just love their brutal honesty, well sometimes! haha

My experience with special needs children...

My 12yr old son lives with ADHD everyday and at times it can be challenging, though I have learned to foster breathing, counting and visual skills and techniques that seem to sooth and calm him when he has his moments. One very simple technique for example, knelling down to his eye level when speaking. This gives him a comforting feeling as opposed to him looking up and feeling intimidated.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Everyday because there’s never a dull moment!
