I've been babysitting since I was 12 for lots of family, friends, and other references. I spent 2 summers nannying for one family, to which I also cared for their dogs and the house in general. I also have spent a lot of time pet sitting!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love going to the park and the beach with kids. The library is also one of my favorites and I love playing with legos/other hands-on games!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my high school teachers hired me as a babysitter multiple times a week. My favorite memory was making gingerbread houses with his son and daughter and listening to Christmas music. It was a total mess but we also made cleaning up a fun activity!
My experience with special needs children...
One of the boys that I nannied for had a really intense temper, and would throw a lot of fits when he was uncomfortable with how a situation was going. I worked with him a lot about patience and kindness, and eventually we built a very stable relationship where he was able to communicate less erratically. He was a really sweet kid, he just needed someone to trust.
