More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Being one of 12 siblings I have always been around children. Growing up I had to help take care of my younger siblings. As the older brothers and sisters started having their own children I started baby sitting those children. I can remember the first time I took a bath all by myself "without a child being put in the tub with me" It felt really wonderful and lonely at the same time. I love taken care of children and in return I receive lots of hugs, laughter and joy.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, cooking, art, building new vocabulary, dancing, imaginative play, playing engaging in educational games. I love being outdoors as much as possible. Some of the actives I have done with children: Going to parks, climbing boulders and trees, going to the children's museum, musical enrichment classes, picnics, Hiking - going on treasure hunts. Exploring nature - looking for bugs, identifying mushrooms, wild berries and such. If old enough roller skating with pad of course.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Ensuring the safety and well bing of the child/children and creating an environment in which the child/children feel secure and loved. Providing opportunities for the child/children to express creative expression and being aware of their BIG little feelings and acknowledging them. Being a positive role model and setting boundaries. Having good communication with the parent/s to in order to have a teamwork approach thus being on the same page as parent/s.

I worked within the public school system in a program for those with different abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many to chose from. The one that just popped in my mind was when a little girl I was caring for saw her shadow on a concert slab that disapered as she reached for it. She was persistent to catch that shadow and I laughed so hard. Children always bring such joy and laughter to me and this is one of the wonderful aspects of being a nanny.
