Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

While living in Hawaii, I pursued coursework in Early Childhood Education, which strengthened my understanding of child development and caregiving. During that time, I worked as a nanny for a wonderful six-year-old girl, supporting her daily routine by planning activities, taking her to the park and clubs, preparing meals, and helping with bedtime and occasional overnights. I became a consistent and trusted presence in her life, especially during a difficult time as her family navigated a divorce, and I took pride in providing a nurturing, stable, and positive environment. Building that meaningful bond and supporting her growth and well-being was incredibly rewarding, and I bring that same care and attentiveness to every family I work with.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love engaging children in activities that keep both their bodies and minds active, especially outdoors. I’m very drawn to Montessori-inspired approaches, so I enjoy encouraging independence, curiosity, and hands-on learning through play and everyday experiences. I love taking children to the park, the beach, or even simple outings like visiting a duck pond—anything that allows them to explore nature, stay active, and discover new things. Whether we’re creating, playing, or learning through real-world experiences, I aim to foster a sense of wonder, confidence, and joy in everything we do together.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What is most important to me about being a nanny is the deep sense of fulfillment I get from it. I feel most like myself when I’m supporting children’s growth, encouraging their curiosity, and helping them explore the world with wonder. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch how their minds develop and to play a role in guiding and nurturing them along the way. Creating a loving, supportive environment where children feel safe to learn and grow is something that genuinely means the world to me.

My experience with special needs children...

While I haven’t formally worked as a nanny for a child with special needs, I grew up very close to a family friend’s son with Down syndrome who is about five years younger than me. Being part of his life from a young age gave me meaningful, hands-on experience and helped me develop patience, empathy, and an understanding of how to support children with different abilities. That relationship taught me the importance of meeting each child where they are, celebrating their strengths, and creating a supportive, encouraging environment. I carry those values into my caregiving approach with every child I work with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was during a family trip with the girl I cared for in Hawaii. She became very overwhelmed and had a big emotional moment, and I was able to sit with her, comfort her, and guide her through it in a calm and supportive way. I helped her understand her feelings, talk through what was upsetting her, and encouraged her to express herself to her dad. With a little support, she was able to tell him that her feelings were hurt and ask for a hug, which was such a meaningful and powerful moment. It was incredibly special to be trusted in that space and to help her feel heard, safe, and understood—it’s something that truly reflects the kind of care I strive to provide.
