I've done volunteers work with daycares throughout school, as well as working for various church nurseries. My best friend also has a two year old who I regularly watch. And lastly, and in my opinion most importantly, I love helping take care of my miraculous special needs younger sister.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
One of my favorite activities to do with older kids is 'Adventure Days!' These come once every two weeks or so. Essentially, they would receive an old-timey looking letter in the mailbox (which I put there). Inside would be toy passports, a map, a key, and some other random things. Using our imagination, and these things, we would go on an adventure someplace awesome for the whole day. With these, I've been to castles in Europe, Pyrimids in Egypt, and even anchent south American jewled tombs!
My experience with special needs children...
My sister has some pretty heavy emotional-social special needs, which often have to do with high emotion regulation or sensory overloads, so I have plenty of techniques and resorces for whatever life may throw at us in this regard.
