A little bit about me

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and lived there for the first 33 years of my life. My family and I recently moved to Vero Beach, Florida from living in Europe for the last 7 years. I´m fluent in English, I know a bit of French, and speek Spanish pretty well. Some members of my family are from Cuba and Spain. I graduated from Lynn University in 2004 with honors with my BA in Human Services and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I´ve been taking care of kids since I was 12 years old. I have experience with kids aged new born to 15 years old. I´m considered (by many people) to be a very pacient, tollerant, understnading, empathetic, sympathetic, loving, caring, sweet, silly, funny, and all around good person.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I work during the day at Saint Peter´s Baptist Academy as a Teachers Assistant. I work with 3rd graders. I n the past I worked a a school in Miami, Florida as a Paraprofessional for a high functioning autistic student. I worked at that school from September 2004 to May 2009. I also volunteered at Miami Children´s Hospital at the day care where the kids of the staff stayed while their parents worked. I (at first) was with the 4 year olds but, ended up (after a few years) with the 6 week to 1 year olds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Watching t.v/movies, listening to music, dancing, playing games (board games ect,) coloring, reading books, doing arts and crafts with the kids, baking with the kids, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is that you´re one of the adults that helping mold/shape innocent kids into loving adults. That you can learn a lot even about yourself while taking care of kids. That you become like family to the child and are even invited to attend activities with the child and their family.

My experience with special needs children...

I´ve taken care of mostly high functioning autistic kids from new born to 14 years old. I can help with some homework (all though Math is my weakest subject.) I´ve never taken care of anyone at anytime in a wheelchair.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Once the autistic kid I looked after asked me to help him make a mini movie. We wrote a script together, he filmed it, edit it, and showed it to his family. Another time we made up a bed time story together to put him and his younger sister to sleep. When I was invited to attend birthday parties at the kids house, go on outings with their families (out to lunch, to the movies, school events/field trips (Disney World for example), invited to go on fishing trips (the parents had pills for sea sickness since I do get sea sick but, love the sea,) the kids would make/buy things for me for my birthday/holidays like Easter and Christmas, etc.
