A little bit about us

We are looking for a nanny for our two children, an 8 yr old girl and a 5 yr old boy, to do school pick up everyday Monday-Friday from 2::30-5:30, care for the children when they have a day off from school or a half day or are home ill, and do occasional light housekeeping associated with the children (laundry, tidying, preparing meals) during the week. We are looking for someone who is available up to 40 hours a week though we may not always use that time. The schedule follows the children’s school calendar with paid time off for major holidays.

A little bit about us

My wife and I have started our search for child care for our four year old son Vincent. He will be going to preschool in the fall. You would be responsible for getting him ready for school in the morning and taking him there. He will be going to school Monday through Friday half days (9 am to noon). You would have to pick him up from school and take him either to our home or to an afterschool activity until my wife returns home between 4 pm and 5 pm. My wife works a teacher's schedule so childcare is needed on school days only. Our home, school and activities are all in Rockville Centre. We are hoping to build a relationship with someone who will be part of our family for the foreseable future. If you are intersted please let us know. Mario

A little bit about us

We live in Rockville Centre and are looking for a part-time babysitter to care for our energetic children (6-year old daughter and 2-year old son). Our daughter attends school between 9a-320p and our son is in school from 9a-215p. We both work from home but it has become difficult managing pick-up/drop-off and handling them after school hours. We are looking for help approximately 3 days per week from 2-6pm (likely Mon, Tues, Thurs). We also have a boxer puppy . Thanks

What Are After-School Nanny Jobs?

After-school nanny jobs are part-time positions that cover weekday afternoons, usually from school pickup until early evening. They fit nannies who want a regular schedule, students, and people with other commitments in the morning.

Types of After-School Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Typical duties include school or bus-stop pickup, snacks, homework help, activities and lessons, and sometimes dinner. Some jobs include a few mornings or school holidays too. Check the school pickup time, the days per week, and whether driving is required.

How to Interview for After-School Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • What time is school pickup, and which days do you need care?
  • Will I drive, and is a car seat or vehicle provided?
  • How do you handle early dismissals and school holidays?
  • What are the children's activities and routines?
  • Is dinner or light housekeeping part of the job?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
