"Abigail walked into my household on day 1 with such a calming and nurturing presence. She made my kids feel safe and encouraged learning while maintaining a playful behavior. My oldest daughter saw Abigail as a big sister figure and if it weren’t for my kids growing up so fast, we’d still have her around everyday. Can’t recommend a better nanny!"

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Volunteer work in Zimbabwe Africa
I worked in an Orphanage with 25 kids living there, would help with meal prep with them as well as helping set up activities for them to do during summer days. I also taught a 7th grade class Math and English to help prepare them for their board exams happening later that school year. I also provided a safe space for the girls in the orphanage by putting together a girl club that we did every Thursday.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I feel like not only creating a relationship with the kids but also the Parents and other family members to make it feel less like a job and more meaningful to me. I like being positive influences to peoples lives and especially children because I feel I can bring great energy to them, that only helps them grow.
My experience with special needs children...
I don't have much experience with special needs children outside of close family members children
The most important part about being a nanny...
Blowing up a giant unicorn floaty and tying it on the the roof of my car to go to the beach with the two girls I was watching and spent hours playing in the water having a war on who could stay on the floaty longest. It was the first hot day of the year in Seattle and we ended the day getting Starbucks refreshers. Everyone was happy.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Portland, OR: Brooklyn S.
Hi there! My name is Brooklyn and I am a pre-medicine undergraduate student at Portland State University. Before working as a nanny to three wonderful special needs boys I worked as a caregiver in a long term residential care facility for two years. This job gave me extensive knowledge on how to work with all age groups with all different kinds of disabilities. I am one of seven children and have brothers who are on varying spots on the autism spectrum and this gave me a passion for working with children with special needs. I have also worked for a family whose child is neurotypical and have loved every minute of it. As I am a full time student my schedule has to be worked around for classes and testing and I may not be able to work as much during finals weeks and such, but with most classes online my schedule is still mostly very open!
