To me, being able to bond with a family is so important when it comes to being a nanny. Being able to set appropriate and healthy boundaries, while also spending most of your time with a family that’s not your own, is so special.

Down syndrome. I have a younger sister with down syndrome. I also have cared for children with autism as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I used to work for a family who had an almost non-verbal daughter. The parents would tell me to just stick her in front of the tv and i’ll be fine. I made it my mission to understand her and connect with her. I was able to teach not only the little girl, but both her parents and sister Sign Language. I was so proud of the little girl and her family.
