More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked for a learning center and from there I met a beautiful family and began nannying their children. The children were 7 and 9 when I began and I nannied them for 2/3 years. I also have been helping raise my Godchild for the last 5 years. Other than that, I occasionally babysit and volunteer at church to assist with nursery/children church. I am also the oldest of 3. My parents had me young and my dad died when I was 7 so I grew up helping my mom raise my younger siblings. We also took in my 1st cousin for a few years and I assisted with her as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I pretty much enjoy everything and am always open to try new things. I love both indoor and outdoor activities and truly believe in a good mix of the two. In my daily life I enjoy spending a lot of time at the park/outdoors but with the rainy weather and heat, sometimes a day in to read and play fun games is the best way to go!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of nannying is being a safe space for both the children AND the parents. It is so important to KNOW the children/family and provide proper care based off of their needs in the moment. Being a nanny isn’t just a job, it’s truly an honor to be so trusted and to assist with developing the children into kind/productive adults!
My experience with special needs children...
I have not had any official “jobs” with special needs children but I did grow up with my deaf/nonverbal cousin and have learned so much about the patience and understanding needed to make them feel safe, understood and cared for. I also spend a lot of time with my best-friend’s nephew who is nonverbal and has autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I truly do not have a favorite moment. I absolutely love children and like to soak in every moment possible both “good” and “bad”. It’s truly such a blessing to be a part of their lives and upbringing; being able to make memories and guide them throughout life is so beautiful, even on our hardest days!
