More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve volunteered at my church’s nursery watching over kids ages 0- 8 years old durning Sunday service. I’ve also volunteered at a daycare helping prepare the kids for school and babysitting the babies. I babysit part time and have cared for kids ages 0-8. I am willing to work with kids older then 8 years old, but the only experience I have with working with kids older then 8 years old would be caring for my siblings and cousins.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For outdoor activities I enjoy taking children to the park, playing different sports outside in the lawn or backyard, one of my personal favorite is painting outside. I usually do this as a “recess” for children who have online school to help them feel normal as possible. Inside I love playing musical chairs, building forts, reading books and teaching children simple phrases or how to count in Spanish, drawing/ coloring, teaching kids how to play games, school nursery rhymes. I believe children should be able to have fun and be children as much as possible especially in times like these, but also being able to do so in the safety of their own home.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part about being a nanny is being their for the family in anyway, but that also means respecting the boundaries and rules the family sets for you. You’re not only earning the trust of the parents, but also the trust of the children and I believe that should be treated with the utmost importance, respect, and love. Accommodating a family and their needs should always be a top priority.
The most important part about being a nanny...
We spent the day coloring, singing, and playing kiddy games, but while doing that I was teaching them Spanish. By the end of each game or activity I’d ask them simple questions and they’d respond in Spanish not realizing that they were learning Spanish. So by the end of the day the child was able to say simple words/ phrases in Spanish and they had loads of fun while learning another language so the phrases stuck with them. They also has pictures and paintings they hung up in their playroom to remember it by, but what made everything special was the joy in their eyes when they rushed to show their parents what they learned and how proud their parents were to hear their child speaking another language. I never really knew how much of an impact I had on the families I cared for until I was able to share that precious moment with them. It’s moments like that, that make caring for children my dream job. I’ll always remember that moment.
