Hi! I'm Caryn! My passion in childcare is child-led play and nature-based education, because children learn best through creative free play and imagination in the outdoors! I have a patient and calm presence, which helps me to meet the child where they are and respond to their unique needs. I have just completed my bachelor's at UMD, with a Childhood Nature Studies major and Environmental & Outdoor Education minor. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have six years of childcare and education experience, gained at a Montessori preschool, at an elementary after-school nature program, at a summer camp as an assistant site supervisor, and at a daycare center caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I have also have experience babysitting infants and elementary aged children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts, playing outdoors, visiting parks, reading books and writing stories, assisting with homework, and playing imaginary games!

My experience with special needs children...

I've cared for children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and learning disabilities. For each child I would build a positive relationship with them to learn their unique interests and needs. This foundation helps me to see the "why" behind each child's behavior and how best to support them in a way that is comfortable and accessible to them.
