Hi! I’m Catherine Tarrou, a proud Clearwater/Tampa native With nine years of nannying experience, I’ve worked with children from newborns to 16-year-olds. I have been a member of Girl Scouts since I was five years old. Now, I’m the co-leader for two troops and the co-service unit leader for my area. I’m passionate about empowering young girls and creating opportunities for them to learn and grow through fun activities and community service. I’m also a strong advocate for teaching kids how to swim from a young age, as I believe it’s an essential life skill living in Florida.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, attending hockey games, and getting together with friends for game nights. I’m excited to continue positively impacting and fostering friendships within our community!

I have a strong passion for working with children. I began in high school when I earned my Child Development Associate and Early Childhood Professional Certificate while working in a preschool. My experience there taught me how to create engaging learning environments and support developmental milestones. Additionally, my involvement in Girl Scouts helped me develop leadership and teamwork skills, further enhancing my ability to connect with and inspire young learners. I love engaging children in a variety of fun and educational activities. From arts and crafts that spark creativity to storytime that fosters a love for reading, I aim to make learning enjoyable. Outdoor play, like nature walks and scavenger hunts, promotes physical health and social skills, while simple science experiments ignite curiosity. I also enjoy music and movement, which allow for self-expression, and cooking together to teach about nutrition. Role-playing and building projects encourage imaginative play and problem-solving. Each activity is an opportunity to connect with children and support their development in a meaningful way.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children comes from working with a young girl who has cerebral palsy. She is nonverbal and wheelchair-bound, and I provided her with essential support, including administering her medication and collaborating with her therapist. This role required me to develop a deep understanding of her individual needs and to create a nurturing environment that encouraged her engagement. By using visual aids and sensory activities, I worked to promote her communication skills and overall well-being. This experience reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate care and highlighted the importance of teamwork in supporting children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite part about being a nanny is the opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships with the children I care for. I love watching them grow and develop their unique personalities, and I find great joy in being part of their daily adventures. Whether it’s exploring new activities, sharing in their laughter, or helping them navigate challenges, every moment feels rewarding, especially when they have those "aha!" moments. I also appreciate the flexibility of the role, which allows me to tailor activities to their interests and developmental needs, creating a fun and nurturing environment where they can truly thrive.
