The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing to have while being a nanny is definitely having patience. As kids learn to do things on their own its not always going to be easy or fun, its easy to get frustrated or upset, so being able to have patience and being able to be calm and gentle and be there to lend a hand if they need help is important.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with many kids with very different disabilities, whether is was mentally or physically. I don't think of them any differently them a child with no special needs. I always promote independence and give them my help when they wanted it ( obviously if they were in a dangerous situation I help regardless). caring for kids with special needs has never been easy but in doing so it allowed to learn more about disabilities and different things that effect people physically and mentally. They brightened my day and I will always be grateful to be apart of their lives
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite things as a nanny or a day care worker was seeing kids achieve something that they had been trying to do for days, or weeks, or months. Like realizing they memorized the whole alphabet, or learning how to tie their shoes, or being able to climb on the twisty ladders at school etc. seeing them get so excited, and being excited to tell me was a very special thing to me
