A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Deja and I am a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced nanny with over 10 years of childcare experience, beginning as a babysitter in 2015. I graduated from Howard University in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, providing me with a strong foundation in child development and emotional wellbeing. Since becoming a full-time nanny in 2022, I have cared for children from one day old to four years of age, and as a babysitter, I have worked with children from three months to eleven years old. I have also traveled with families, helping children adjust while maintaining consistent routines. I am passionate about creating safe, nurturing environments where children thrive and building lasting, trusting relationships with families through open communication, mutual respect, and dependable care.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with children for ten years in roles such as babysitting, youth church volunteer, tutoring, and nannying. I have been a paid, full-time nanny since August of 2022. The ages I have worked with range from 1 day old to 13 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read to children, take walks with them, take them to the park, do arts and crafts, play dress up, play with magnatiles, and venture out to find indoor and outdoor events and activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is realizing the impact you will make in the child's life. It is important to understand that the morals and values you teach them will shape who they become. Everything you do and say will be absorbed by them like a sponge. It is important that you leave them with great values that will stay with them not only when you are present, but when you are not.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with adhd as well as autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment is when I was working with my first nanny family. The baby was eight months old and had just been introduced to the hallway jumper. He wasn't very active in it at first. To get him moving I decided to "hype" him up, singing "go bubba, go bubba" to a tune and he started jumping to the beat. I recorded and sent it to his parents, and it became a hallmark video for anyone who knew him.
