More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
administering cognitive assessments as a research coordinator for University of Virginia. I interacted with parents and their children at the Sheila Johnson Clinic under the supervision of clinical psychologists in order to learn more about how children think and develop through their play and interactions with their parent. I really loved learning from each child- each different in their own unique way!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
exploring nature and the park, nature scrapbooking, storytelling, puzzles, sensory play with slime or sand, going to the zoo and museums, answering lots and lots of questions!
The most important part about being a nanny...
making sure children are safe, listening to children, helping children grow and learn!
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience in childhood developmental markers. I have taught webinars on understanding the signs and symptoms of delayed speech and what resources to reach out to. I have also taught webinars on an introduction understanding the behavior and behavioral management of toddlers and children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love listening to the stories and commentaries kids share when we play. I can build with legos or play puzzles or tell stories for hours! My most recent story is of my friend's daughter asking me why I chose the dress I wore to her house, asking why there were flowers on it, and asking why it was so smooth. She is inquisitive and listened to me share some of the reasons design decisions are made, how a pattern goes from design by an artist to a final textile, we explored different types of cloths in the living room (couch, curtains, dress), and about how I wore my nicest dress to visit my friend!
