When the weather allows I love spending time outside with the kids I’ve nannied. I love letting the kids take the lead and let their imagination run wild (with supervision of course).
My experience with special needs children...
For a couple months I helped a stay-at-home mother with her two sons, both under the age of 5. Both boys had autism. Our days would include of interactive activities that would apply to their sensory processing disorders. I spent a lot of time teaching them fun ways to cook and clean. We were all very artistic so the boys loved drawing and coloring with me. After this experience I changed my minor to special education.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I nannied this infant girl for over a year. Her dad spoke fluent Spanish and asked if I could use some basic Spanish words with her. They asked if I would teach her “besos” which means “kiss” in English. Every time I held her and said “Besos!” she would let out a happy squeal and give me a kiss on my cheek.
