"Janis was the very best nanny my family ever employed. She was the most loving and safe caregiver for my 5 children, including a set of preemie twins. She even helped us do foster care for special needs children for several years on top of my 5. She spent 12 years with our family and no one could come close to filling her shoes. Janis was creative and always coming up with fun activities and outings for the kids. She was firm when she needed to be with them as well. She communicated wonderfully with me and I always felt that we were a team raising the children together. She clearly loves and understands children, from newborns to difficult teenagers and every age in between. She will be a fabulous nanny for the next lucky family!"

More About Me
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities: Arts and crafts, baking and cooking together, reading, board games, puzzles, imaginative play, library visits, and fun educational activities.
Outdoor activities: Parks and playgrounds, nature walks, picnics, splash pads and swimming, trips to the zoo, exploring museums and local attractions, outdoor games, seasonal activities, and going on little adventures around town.
I also love finding activities based on each child’s individual interests and age. Sometimes the best days are the simple ones!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part of being a nanny is building trust—with both the children and their parents. Children should feel safe, loved, understood, and comfortable being themselves, and parents should feel confident knowing their children are in good hands. For me, being a great nanny means showing up consistently, really getting to know each child, and becoming someone the whole family can depend on.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience caring for children with a variety of medical and developmental needs, including premature infants and medically fragile babies and toddlers. I have cared for a young child with a significant neurological injury who required G-tube feedings, assistance with mobility, and daily therapeutic exercises. I have also cared for an infant experiencing feeding and weight-gain concerns that required careful monitoring of feeds and intake. Through foster care, I cared for an infant who arrived in a full-leg cast and required additional support with daily care and mobility. These experiences have taught me to be patient, attentive, calm, and especially observant when caring for children with additional needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moments are the ones that come after being with a family for several years, when you really know the kids and have built that special bond and rhythm together. You know their personalities, what makes them laugh, when they need encouragement, and sometimes what they need before they even ask. I love reaching that point where everyone is comfortable, we have our own little routines and inside jokes, and being their nanny feels less like a job and more like being an important part of their lives.
