A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katelyn.

Caring for children has always been a big part of my life. As the second oldest of four siblings, I'm no stranger to busy days, helping around the house, and keeping little ones engaged.

I've worked with children ages 2 to 14 through three recreational summer camps and as a private nanny for a family of three. I'm also a junior studying Administration of Justice with a background in Mortuary Science.

I'm dependable, patient, and genuinely enjoy creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment where children can be themselves. Whether we're reading, playing outside, doing crafts, or tackling homework, my goal is to make each day enjoyable while giving parents peace of mind.

I'd love the opportunity to get to know your family and become someone you can trust and rely on. I look forward to meeting you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

One of my favorite experiences caring for children was during a Spanish immersion trip to South America, where I had the opportunity to connect with and donate to the children of La Casa Azul, an orphanage in Lima, Peru. I'll never forget playing soccer with the kids. It was probably the most tiring and laughter-filled game of soccer I've ever played! That experience reminded me that building relationships with children doesn't always require something elaborate. Sometimes all it takes is being present, joining in on the fun, and making them feel seen and cared for.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy just about anything that gets kids smiling and having fun! Arts and crafts are probably my favorite because I love hands-on activities and seeing kids get excited about creating something that's uniquely theirs. One of my favorite hobbies is rhinestoning, so I definitely have a soft spot for creative projects! I'm also a big fan of outdoor activities, whether that's going to the park, playing games, taking a walk, or just enjoying some fresh air. I'm always happy to follow a child's interests and find activities that make them feel engaged, confident, and excited to learn.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny is building genuine connections and lasting bonds with the children I care for. I truly believe kids teach us so much more than we give them credit for, so I always welcome the opportunity to learn from them and grow alongside them. Watching them discover who they are while being a small part of that journey is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. 🤍

My experience with special needs children...

I have both paid and volunteer experience working with children and adults with special needs and learning disabilities. I've learned that every individual is different, so I always try to meet people where they are with patience, kindness, and flexibility. My nephew is autistic, and spending time with him has taught me to be even more patient and creative when it comes to caring for, communicating with, and engaging with children. Those experiences have helped me become a more understanding and compassionate caregiver overall.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don't think my favorite nanny moment was one big, unforgettable event. It was the moment my nanny family and I settled into our routine. I looked forward to going to work each day, and it felt like they genuinely trusted me to care for their child and be a part of their family. That's when I knew we were a great fit for each other.

Of course, there were plenty of fun moments along the way! One of my favorites was when we made up a game called "Ocean Princess" at the park. Before long, other kids joined in, and we spent the afternoon laughing, using our imaginations, and "saving" the princess.

Hello, I'm Cathy. I am 28 and I have lived in DC for about 5 years now. I am from France. I can definitely speak and teach French to your children if that is your wish. Arrived in the US as an au pair, I love taking care of children. Seeing their evolution and their joy is grateful every day. I would say that I am patient, responsible and positive. I used to take care of children from 0 to 8 years old. every age is interesting. I love doing games outside, adventure, grafts, cooking, reading, singing, drawing. I am also very aware of the montessori method and apply it to the activities that I create with the kids.
In my past experiences, I did potty training, meal prep, bring children to museum, swimming pool, parks; driving them to school; overnight nanny, help with homework and homeschooling for children up to 8 years old...
