A little bit about me

I have a recent clean background check. I actually have 2 within the last 24 months. I have over a decade in child care. From public child care and 2 daycares where I was the lead toddler teacher. I've also worked for Community Action in their headstart program. I worked 3 different head start locations, ages 3-5 years. I started as a floater, over a decade ago, so I have experience in the infant room, toddler room and preschool room. My most recent job just ended. I was the lead teacher in the toddler room. I have six 1-2 year olds. They no longer had hours or enough children to pay more than 1 teacher. I was second in seniority, having been there 14 months. So I have all the supplies for arts and crafts, books, coloring, stickers, etc I can bring the fun and teach them at the same time. I have my associates degree in childhood development. Plus, I've completed numerous trainings. Seeing children learn, grow and develop is always amazing to me. I've dealt with all types of children.

Hi, I'm Katie! I have over a decade of experience in childcare. I have my associates in childhood development, as well as other trainings and classes over the past 10+ years. I've worked in both public and private childcare. I worked for Community Action in their head start department for several years where I was a TA at 3 different locations. I recently finished a job as a toddler teacher. I LOVE working with children. I have a bag of crafts, stickers, books, etc, to have a lot of fun with out imaginations and maybe even learn something! The most important part about being a nanny...

Showing love. Making sure any child feels safe, wanted and worthy. Watching out for ways you can help, if it's resources or extra babysitting at half price. Standing up for the child, making sure they aren't abused or neglected and being their voice if you need too.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children on different parts of the spectrum. I have had some training but it had been limited. Some children have just developed later than others and I've worked with them to improve things like gross motor skills and how to be a good friend. I've worked with foster children, traumatized children, children of abuse, children living in poverty and child with behavioral issues.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are honestly too many to count. Having one of my kiddos on the spectrum run, hug me when I came in the door and said my name. I was so proud of him because we had been working on trust, bonding, and speech. It's a blessing to them learn lessons in real time and see development and progress.
