The main qualities (though she possesses many) that make her a wonderful and enjoyable person to have as part of our team is the fact that she’s reliable, honest/upfront, flexible, warm, loving, has a great can do attitude, laid back, fun, and has no issues handling sick kiddos (or being around sick parents). Basically, my husband and I wouldn’t have stayed sane without her! We feel so lucky to know Kristi, and I know she will be an asset to any family, as she’s super adaptable. She’s literally the only one that hasn’t run away from our family of 4 boys (we interviewed and tried out lots of candidates), but none were interested in the challenge. The most important part about being a nanny...
I love to be a safe space and a teacher to children. THEIR natural "vibe" is usually very much the best parts of being human without being jaded yet or cynical or censored. They are usually curious & fun & so am I!
My experience with special needs children...
My middle son was diagnosed as high-functioning Autistic at age 2.5. I currently work in Pediatric Therapy clinics specific to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ABA Therapy) so I have a lot of knowledge/experience in this realm.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I wear my hair short & spiky as my style, & one day when I was nannying in my 20's, the sweet little girl said to me. "Ummm, Miss Kristi...I think you should tell your Mom to brush your hair better." She thought I still lived with my Mom & didn't know what my hair looked like, maybe? Too cute!
