Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have trained as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, and for over a year now I've been working with families on a temporary basis with their newborns and infants, and several families had toddlers ranging from 2-4 years old whom I have joyously cared for and played with. I've been around older children, aged 5-10 in my community and family as well, and I always enjoy that. There are 2 different homeschooling groups I am grateful enough to have been a part of at times.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love including children in my own activities, as they are usually so interested in that! Such as "cooking", "cleaning", and loving and caring for baby. I have provided massage and physical therapy exercises for babies. For older toddlers and children puzzles, coloring, science experiments, nature observation, make believe, stretching and breathing, music making and song, and development toys and activities (think KiwiCo) are all favorites.
My experience with special needs children...
While my experience with special needs children is limited, I am particularly well versed in neurodivese behavior as a neurodiverse person myself! I am actutely aware of sensory issues, and I am extremely patient, kind, caring, and accepting. I am wholly confident in my ability to adapt to circumstances, and I look to understand the needs of any individual, especially child, in my care. I am also a trauma-informed facilitator, and can treat all people in my care with gentleness as I aim to create safer spaces wherever I go.
