Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes growing up as the oldest of three girls. I’ve always been a natural helper, especially with my youngest sister who is 8 and has Down syndrome. She’s minimally verbal, so I’ve been deeply involved in her daily care, including potty training, speech and behavioral therapy, and creating engaging routines that support her development.
Outside of my family, I nannied for a sweet 6-year-old girl named Makenzie for nearly a year. She was energetic, curious, and had some sensory sensitivities, so I created a structured, playful routine with sensory-friendly activities, reading time, and outdoor play. I also helped with meals, homework, and bedtime when her parents had late work nights. That experience really reinforced my love for one-on-one childcare and my ability to adapt to each child’s unique personality and needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities I enjoy doing with children include things that spark creativity, movement, and imagination! One of my favorites is going on “nature color walks,” where we explore the neighborhood or park and try to find objects in a certain color—like five green things or three yellow flowers. It’s a fun way to build observation skills and get some fresh air!
I also love setting up themed arts and crafts (like paper plate animals or seasonal decorations), baking simple kid-friendly recipes together (like banana muffins or sugar cookies), and building pillow forts for storytime. I enjoy sensory play like kinetic sand, water tables, or homemade playdough, and I’m always up for board games, scavenger hunts, and dance parties.
For calmer moments, I love reading books with silly voices, doing puzzles, or making up stories together. Every activity is a chance to connect, learn, and have fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny, to me, is building a real connection with the child. It’s not just about keeping them safe—it’s about making them feel seen, heard, and supported. Kids remember who made them feel comfortable being themselves. I think the little things matter most: listening when they talk about their day, noticing when something feels off, and showing up consistently with kindness. Being a nanny is a role I don’t take lightly—because you're becoming a part of a family’s life, and that’s really special.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children began within my own family—my youngest sister has Down syndrome and is minimally verbal, so I’ve been closely involved in her care since she was born. I’ve helped with potty training, speech and behavioral therapy exercises, sensory play, and building routines that support her communication and emotional needs. Through her, I’ve learned so much about patience, gentle redirection, and how every small milestone matters.
Outside of my family, I’ve also cared for children with ADHD and sensory sensitivities. I’m very comfortable adjusting routines to meet a child’s needs—whether that means offering calming breaks, creating a visual schedule, or using fun, engaging tools to help with focus and transitions. I always aim to create a safe, loving environment where each child feels understood, supported, and celebrated just as they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was with a little girl I cared for named Makenzie. She had been struggling with confidence while learning to read, so we created a “reading picnic” tradition—every week, we’d pack snacks, bring a blanket to the backyard, and read together under the trees. One day, she read an entire book to me all by herself, then beamed and said, “I think I’m a real reader now!” Seeing her pride in that moment—and knowing I helped her believe in herself—was incredibly special and reminded me why I love this work so much.
