My name is Kayla and I have been working with children of various ages for five years. I come from a large family and being the oldest in my generation, has led me to find so much joy in watching each of them grow. My passion in life is automotive repair. When I was 16 I bought my first car and instantly fell in love with discovering how each part worked. My other favorite pastime is reading as well as creative writing. My preferred genre to read is fantasy, and I have found great joy in writing stories of my own. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My experience in childcare started when I was 13 years old by being the oldest of 7 grandchildren. The youngest child I have cared for was five months old, going up to a 13 year old. Some duties that I did besides caring for the children were light housework such as dishes, dusting, rotating laundry, as well as tidying and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the home. I also cooked and prepared meals for the children I cared for. Along with babysitting and nannying for family members, I also worked in licensed care. While I was only with my preschool class for less than a year, it gave me a great foundation and understanding of how to work with many children at a time. It pushed me to prioritize efficiency and organization in our day to day routine to ensure that each child received the best care possible.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading to children and showing them the beauty of the hidden worlds within a book. I support nurturing a child’s creativity and encouraging them to explore many outlets of expression. Arts and crafts projects are another example of this. Some of my other favorite activities are puzzles, legos, as well as other problem solving games. I enjoy assisting children in learning how to adapt and overcome obstacles as they present themselves. When it comes to physical activity, I love to teach them new sports from when I was a child, as well as learn what their favorite games are.
