I worked for Kindcare where I educated and cared for children 0 to 5 years. I’ve stayed within childcare then by babysitting on and off until I started teaching again at Colorado Children’s Academy and the Learning Experience.

I enjoy playing with them. It varies on the child on what I do with them because I’m there for them. Meaning, if they prefer to play with cars then I will play cars with them. Or if they prefer outside play, I’ll play outside with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Any moment that it becomes clear I’ve become a safe person for a child. One of my favorite moments was when there was a 2 year old that I cared for at Kindercare. He was very shy and scared at first when he would come. I would sit next to him quietly or talk to him to let him know I’m always here if he needs me and I would reassure him things would be okay. The first time he ran to me and hugged me felt like such a victory. After that, our little relationship bloomed and he was very comfortable with me.
