When one of my sisters was very ill I stepped in and nannied for her 3 boys and older daughter for her for about 2 years. This was in addition to caring for them as a babysitter and being constantly involved with them. It was a great experience and my nephews and I are still very close.

Other than safety first, taking the time to listen. No matter the personality of the children that I work with, I always find there are small moments when they say what's on their mind. Knowing that their thoughts are important to me makes a big difference.

I have worked with children who have sensory processing disorder, autism, down syndrome, and radial dysplasia. I have also worked with children who are deaf.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Once, a little boy I nannied noticed that I was a bit sad after getting off of the phone while I composed myself. He was so sweet and asked if I was okay and if I needed a glass of water. Seeing his compassion and awareness was such a sweet moment, I couldn't help but smile!
