A little bit about me

The mother of a grown-up who's doing very well, I'm looking for care-giving work that would bring in some spending money in this very expensive world. I've looked after infants, toddlers, teenagers, and elderly people over the years and also look after pets. I have a driving license and used to be first-aid and CPR qualified but I guess everyone I worked with (it was mandatory at my job for one person to be qualified so I stepped up) was in pretty good shape, so I let the qualification lapse. But I'm certain I could renew it with ease. Speak three languages and have a teaching qualification for French. I've also tutored kids – teaching them to read or getting them to continue reading. I enjoyed it and I think they did, too.

Although I'm a bit older, I'm very dynamic and active. My son visited me recently and kept telling me to slow down when we were walking.

A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Madison, and I am an experienced childcare professional with a strong background in child development. During high school, I completed four years of child development courses, earned multiple certifications, and worked as a daycare teacher at Kiddie Academy for two years, gaining experience with children aged 6 weeks to 13 years. After high school, I worked at a private preschool for over a year, where I further developed my skills and became Lead Teacher certified. Currently, I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education to deepen my expertise. I am CPR, First Aid, and ADA certified, and I am passionate about creating safe, nurturing, and engaging environments for children.

A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Emily , and I bring a unique blend of small town, warmth, adaptability, and curiosity about the world. I grew up in a small coastal town in Maine, where I supported both locals and visitors through event catering, household care, childcare, and personal assistance. These experience not only taught me responsibility and attention to detail, but also showed me how meaningful it is to truly be there for people, whether it's childcare, household duties, cleaning, errands, particular tasks, or simply being listening ear.

I'm someone who thrives on adventure and connection. I love exploring the outdoors, discovering new places, and engaging with new individuals, yet I also prioritize creating stability and a sense of calm wherever I go. Mental health and community are deeply important to me, and I approach every role with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make life calmer and brighter for you and your family.

I look forward to meeting you!

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Los Angeles County, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Los Angeles County can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Los Angeles County Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
